Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, October 27

A day after The Tribune reported the violation of the social distancing norms at the MC office, the civic body deputed an official to check overcrowding and ensure turn-wise entry of vendors into the premises.

Vendors were not allowed to enter the area where counters were set up. Their documents were collected by the staff and they were called in one by one.

Yesterday, they were seen jostling with each other outside the counters as social distancing went for a toss. The vendors were identified in the 2016 survey, but were not registered as they did not have a Chandigarh Aadhaar card. However, now the MC is registering them too.
