Chandigarh, January 3

After BJP leadership announced Davesh Moudgil’s candidature for the post of mayor, 14 BJP councillors, including city party president Sanjay Tandon, came out of the UT guest house. They all gathered around Tandon, discussing the next course of action. These councillors, who were not ready to see Moudgil as the next Mayor, left in separate cars. They first thought to go to the MC office and later decided to hold a meeting at Sukhna Lake.

Meanwhile, Tandon turned up at the guest house where the name of Moudgil was declared. He denied he was part of any meeting with the other faction. Tandon told the media that he had gone out to see his unwell wife.

Then came the news that Jaswal had filed her nomination papers at the MC office. Jha and Tandon did not address the media till the time the party’s mayoral nominees filed their nomination papers.

Things reached such a level that councillors from both factions were staring at each other in anger while crossing ways. At one instance, Heera Negi extended her hand to shake with Jaswal, but the latter did not respond.
