The Panjab University Research Scholars’ Association (PURSA) today gave a representation to the DUI regarding the denial of requisite “Duty Leave” to UBS scholars for data collection.
Association members met the PU DUI, Chief Security Officer and the chairperson of the UBS department regarding the long-pending issue. They claimed: “the UBS research scholars are continuously being harassed. They are denied field-work duty leave, which is a quintessential part of empirical research. UBS scholars are running from pillar to post to resolve the problem, but to no avail. There clearly is a lack of research temperament among authorities, especially department chairperson Deepak Kapoor.”
Scholars say the authoritarian and adamant attitude of department chairperson became palpable when he “refused” to hear the representation by the PURSA “Such environment of fear among research scholars perpetuated by authorities is certainly not congenial for healthy quality research,” stated PURSA representatives.
