Ambala: The police have booked an unknown person for a murder bid on a doctor on Friday night. In a complaint to the police, Dr Sanjay Mittal of Shahzadpur stated that around 8.25 pm, he was closing his clinic when a youth reached there. He held him from behind at knifepoint. The doctor said following resistance, the youth, who was wearing a mask, managed to flee. The entire act was captured on a CCTV camera. A case has been registered against the unknown youth under Section 307 of  the Indian Penal Code at the Shahzadpur police station. TNS

Dietetics Day observed

Chandigarh: India has highest prevalence of anaemia at 39.8 per cent. Around 50 per cent of the Indian women have low haemoglobin levels and are not even aware that they are anaemic. Most common anaemia occurs from iron and vitamin deficiency. Iron deficiency anaemia occurs because of lack of iron mineral in the body. This was discussed during an event held to observe “National Dietetics Day” at the Advanced Paediatric Centre auditorium at the PGI. Lectures on anaemia and how to prevent it by incorporating locally available iron and folate-rich foods were held. A quiz contest was also held for the audience, which comprised of the most vulnerable groups like young mothers and adolescent girls.  TNS

Night Hikers, Exploders win

Chandigarh: Night Hikers defeated Sun Rangers by 17 runs in an AG Junior Challenger Trophy match here on Saturday. Batting first, Hikers scored 143/6 in 20 overs. Parmeet (30) and Udayveer (29) made useful contributions to the total. Girish was the pick of the bowlers for Rangers, claiming 4/12. In reply, Rangers could manage only 126/4 in the allotted overs. In the second match of the day, Rising Rebels registered a seven-wicket win over Moonlight Exploders. Chasing 109 runs for victory, Rebels reached home in the last over of their innings. Aryamann (30) and Harsimran (26) did the bulk of scoring for Rebels. Earlier, Sukhmandeep (28) and Paras Kumar (25) had helped Exploders reach 109. TNS

Golfer Mohul felicitated 

Chandigarh: Golfer Mohul Dhingra was awarded a special memento for making a hole-in-one during the just-concluded Milkha Junior Golf Challenge at the Chandigarh Golf Club. The 12-year-old was felicitated by Mohali Golf Range president Vini Mahajan here on Saturday. Arjuna Awardee golfer, Harmeet Kahlon, who mentors Dhingra, also congratulated his ward. A student of Delhi Public School, Sector 40, Dhingra took up the sport in 2017. TNS
