Dr BR Ambedkar remembered on his birth anniversary

The Chandigarh Administration commemorated the 135th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar by organising a commemorative seminar at Dr Ambedkar Study Circle in Sector 37 here today.

The event served as a platform to reflect upon the life, ideals and contributions of the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, while also deliberating on key issues related to community welfare.

Damandeep Kaur Sandhu, wife of MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, was the chief guest on the occasion. She was joined by Anuradha Chagti, Secretary, Social Welfare, and Dr Palika Arora, Director, Social Welfare.

Meanwhile, leaders of political parties also paid tribute to Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. A floral tribute ceremony was organised at the BJP office in Sector 33. BJP national vice president Soudan Singh and state president Jatinder Pal Malhotra were present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Malhotra highlighted the life and contributions of Dr Ambedkar.

A collective pledge was taken to protect the Constitution and uphold social justice by AAP workers during an event held at the party office in Sector 39. The chief guest, Jasvir Singh Garhi Chairman, Punjab Scheduled Castes Commission, delivered a lecture reflecting on the history of social discrimination and the struggles of Babasaheb.

The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee also organised a programme at Congress Bhawan where floral tributes were offered to Ambedkar. City Congress president HS Lucky remembered Babasaheb’s contributions in the making of the Indian Constitution.

Fatehgarh Sahib: Floral tributes were also paid to Ambedkar in Fatehgarh Sahib. Local MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai remembered the architect of the Constitution, stating that his emphasis on education and constitutional rights continues to inspire generations.
