Dr Ravneet Kaur is GMCH-32 Director Principal
Replaces Prof Gurvinder Pal Thami, who was relieved of charge with immediate effect
The UT Administration today appointed Dr Ravneet Kaur as Director Principal of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, replacing Prof Gurvinder Pal Thami, who was relieved of charge with immediate effect.
A transfusion medicine specialist with 25-year service at the institution, Dr Kaur is among its most decorated faculty members. In 2022, the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology honoured her with its Lifetime Achievement Award. She has also played a key role in building India’s National Haemovigilance Programme and serves on the Technical Resource Group on Blood Transfusion Services under the National Blood Transfusion Council.
Most recently, she served as Professor In-charge (Academics) — a role in which she worked to tighten academic processes and raise institutional standards.
Confirming the appointment, Dr Kaur said, “I accept this responsibility with humility and a strong sense of commitment,” She said she would strengthen patient care, improve the patient experience and raise the quality of medical teaching and training.
“Together, building upon the rich legacy of this renowned institution, we will work towards taking it to even greater heights of excellence in healthcare, education and service,” she added.
