Dr Sandeep Bansal takes over as President of the International Sleep Surgery-Indian association of Surgeons for sleep apnea (ISSS-IASSA) 2026 conference held at Mumbai from 20th-22nd February

Dr Sandeep Bansal, a professor at PGIMER Chandigarh’s ENT Department, has taken charge as President of the Indian Association of Surgeons for Sleep Apnoea (IASSA).

Calling obstructive sleep apnoea a “silent epidemic” with serious cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurocognitive consequences, Dr Bansal stressed that its management must move beyond isolated specialty care toward a structured interdisciplinary model. He advocated closer integration between ENT surgeons, pulmonologists, sleep physicians, maxillofacial surgeons, neurologists, anaesthesiologists, and allied health experts to ensure comprehensive, patient-centred treatment.
