Dry day: Dengue larvae detected

PATIALA:The Health Department observed dry day under the supervision of district epidemiologist Gurmanjeet Kaur in residential colonies and government offices here on Friday.

Patiala, July 6

The Health Department observed dry day under the supervision of district epidemiologist Gurmanjeet Kaur in residential colonies and government offices here on Friday.

As many as 10 owners were challaned as dengue larvae were found at their residence.

A team of health officials visited Samania Gate, Sanauri Adda, Diesel Motors Works, PRTC workshops, residential colonies and sprayed larvicides. The people were made aware of the importance of dry day for the prevention of dengue and chikungunya.

Civil Surgeon Harish Malhotra said, “We are making people aware about open utensils or old goods kept outside, which can hold water and become breeding ground for mosquitoes, especially in the rainy season.”

No case of dengue was reported from the district, he said.  Everything was under control, but if precautions were not taken the problem might  aggravate, he said. — TNS
