NCC girl cadets Kumudini and Jasmine Mann have brought laurels to the city by making a mark at national level.
Kumudini won the gold medal at All-India Best Air Cadet Competition, a feat achieved for the first time by a local cadet in its 50-year history. Kumudini came out on the top among 17 boys and 17 girls from across the nation.
Jasmine Mann of the naval wing, too made the city proud, by being adjudged the Best NCC Naval Cadet in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh Directorate. She had secured fifith position in the competition for the All-India Best Cadet.
UT Adviser Vijay Kumar Dev felicitated both cadets at a function held at DAV College. He described the girls’ feat as a great honour for the city in the year dedicated to women’s empowerment. He said the NCC had been doing yeoman service by grooming the youth power into leaders of tomorrow for the service of the nation.
Earlier, the Adviser paid tributes at the memorial of Capt Vikram Batra, a student of the college, who was posthumously decorated with Param Vir Chakra.
