Wrong parking blues: Student comes up with app

Mohali, December 4

To deal with the wrong car parking blues effectively, Chandigarh University’s animation and multimedia student has prepared a mobile app—WCarPs.

The 21-year-old, Nikhil Sharma, claimed that by using the app, the car users, whose vehicle struck due to wrong parking by some other, can get in touch with the driver of the wrongly parked vehicle through sms, call or e-mail.

“The car user has to punch in the vehicle registration number in the app. If the user is registered with the app, he/she can be contacted. Basically, it’s a community-based app,” said Nikhil.

While launching the app, university chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu said wrong parking has become a menace in the tricity. “This youngster’s effort will go a long way to help the ‘victims’ of the menace,” said Sandhu adding that more than 500 residents of the tricity have downloaded and are registered on the app.
