Eight counting centres set up for Mohali local body polls
Official counting is scheduled to begin at 8 am on May 29
Eight counting centres have been set up for the votes polled on May 26 across the Mohali Municipal Corporation and the Municipal Councils of Zirakpur, Dera Bassi, Lalru, Banur, Nayagaon and Kurali.
To ensure transparency and accountability, the entire counting process will be conducted under video surveillance with foolproof security arrangements. Only authorised personnel will be allowed inside the venues.
The designated counting centres are — MC Banur: Office of Market Committee, Banur; MC Kurali: Community Hall, Office of Municipal Council, Kurali; MC Nayagaon: Century Public School, Karoran, Nayagaon; MC Zirakpur: Community Centre, Chatt; MC Dera Bassi: Government College, Dera Bassi; MC Lalru: Government Senior Secondary School, Lalru; MC Mohali (Wards Nos. 1–25): Community Centre, Phase 7; MC Mohali (Wards Nos. 26–50): Community Centre, Sector 69.
A full rehearsal of the counting arrangements will be held at these venues tomorrow (May 28) at 10 am. Official counting is scheduled to begin at 8 am on May 29.
Meanwhile, all Returning Officers have been directed to strictly comply with the State Election Commission, Punjab, guidelines to ensure a fair and transparent process.
