Email bomb threat at District Courts in Chandigarh
Senior police officials rushed to the spot and cordoned off the premises
A bomb threat email triggered an alert at the District Courts Complex in Sector 43 on Friday, leading to heightened security and a detailed search operation. The court authorities informed the police soon after receiving the email around 11.30 am, following which senior officials rushed to the spot and cordoned off the premises as a precaution.
Bomb disposal and forensic teams were deployed to thoroughly scan the complex under the supervision of senior police officials. After several hours of checks, the premises were declared safe and no suspicious object was found.
The police have initiated a cyber-investigation to trace source of the email. Security has been tightened at the courts in view of recent hoax bomb threats received by schools and government buildings across the city.
