Entrepreneurship tech driven, says Pbi varsity’s VC

PATIALA:Recently, Punjabi University, Patiala, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Entrepreneurship Development Institution of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, to conduct an open learning programme of entrepreneurship.

Recently, Punjabi University, Patiala, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Entrepreneurship Development Institution of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, to conduct an open learning programme of entrepreneurship.

The first contact programme was inaugurated by varsity’s Vice- Chancellor Dr BS Ghuman today. Dr Ghuman informed that this initiative has been taken to provide employment to atleast one member in each family.

He said this programme would effectively address problem of unemployment by creating self-employment, thereby engaging youths in productive activities and saving them from falling in trap of social evils, including drug abuse.

The VC said entrepreneurship in 21st century was largely technology driven for which budding entrepreneurs should acquaint themselves with latest technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning and cloud computing, among others. 

The inaugural event was attended by Dr GS Batra, Dean Academic Affairs; Dr Balraj Singh Saini, Director, Incubation Centre; Dr Minni Singh, coordinator, Incubation Centre; Dr Gurpreet Kaur; professor, Pharmacy Department; and Dr Inderpreet Sandhu of Psychology Department.
