Faculty submit proposals worth Rs 225 cr

Faculty from Panjab University, including its regional and rural centres, have submitted 22 research proposals — worth Rs 225 crore — to the university authorities, seeking funds from various ministries and agencies.

The research proposals include projects related to forensic science, English and  cultural studies, school of communication studies, computer sciences and applications, chemistry, economic, language, geology, defence and national security studies, environment studies, equal opportunity cell-PWD and centre for nanoscience and nanotechnology.

A committee comprising Prof Shankarji Jha, Officiating Dean, Research, Prof Devinder Mehta; Dean, Sciences; Prof Gurpal Singh, Dean, Languages; Prof HS Bains, Dean, Engineering; Prof Pam Rajput, Dean, Arts; Prof Ronki Ram from the Department of Political Scienc; Prof SK Tomar from the Department of Mathematics; Prof Sanjeev Puri, Director, Centre for Industry Institute Partnership; and Prof Rajat Sandhir, Department of Biochemistry, has been formed to interface with the faculty members to facilitate funding. The committee, in its meeting on Thursday, decided to constitute discipline-wise sub-committees to facilitate the process of submission of proposals to funding sources.
