Family stages sit-in at Mohali hospital after youth’s death, seeks Punjab CM Mann’s intervention
Tohana youth succumbs to stab injuries, hospital bills family Rs 11 lakh
Family members and relatives of 24-year-old Tohana resident Gursewak Singh on Monday staged a sit-in outside Fortis Hospital in Mohali after he succumbed to stab injuries and the hospital billed the family Rs 11 lakh for treatment.
Gursewak was admitted to the hospital on February 14 after being stabbed by unidentified persons when he allegedly tried to intervene in a scuffle involving migrant workers near a temple in Phase 11.
Nearly 20 grieving family members from Haryana gathered outside the hospital, demanding justice and seeking the intervention of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who was admitted there at the time. They urged CM Mann to ensure the arrest of those responsible.
Sources said no arrests had been made in the case so far.
CM Mann was admitted to Fortis Hospital Mohali on Sunday after experiencing exhaustion. Hospital authorities said his condition was stable and that he had been kept under observation.
Earlier, Mann had travelled from Sangrur to Mohali after paying obeisance at a temple in Sangrur district on the occasion of Mahashivratri along with AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
