Film appreciation course ends

CHANDIGARH:A film appreciation course, organised by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and Panjab University, concluded at the Department of English and Cultural Studies here on Sunday.

Chandigarh, February 10

A film appreciation course, organised by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and Panjab University, concluded at the Department of English and Cultural Studies here on Sunday.

Certificates were given to more than 75 participants from eight states of the country. Dr Surbhi Goel shared her views on how education and instruction of subjects such as cinema were more about curating the optimal content and creating insightful conversation and discussion rather than an informational flow alone.  Instructors of the course, filmmakers Pankaj Saxena and Munish Bhardwaj, also screened films. Vijaya Singh’s film, ‘Unscheduled Arrivals’, was also screened, followed by a question and answer session.

A technical session began with a discussion on the film, ‘Pyaasa’, which was screened on Saturday. This was followed by a script-writing session. — TNS
