FIR registered in connection with illegal mining at Kharar

The DC added that a heavy digging machine has been recovered near the site

As part of continued efforts to curb illegal mining activities in the district, the police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons under sections 21 (1) and 4 (1) of Mines and Minerals (Regulation of Development) Act 1957 at the Majri police station.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aashika Jain said there is a zero-tolerance policy to illegal mining activities in the district. Any one found indulged in such activities will be dealt with sternly.

“As the information was received about the illegal mining site at Miyanpur Changar, previous day, a team led by Kharar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gurmander Singh was viaited the site to check the facts and after their confirmation, immediately FIR was recommended against the culprits,” she said.

The DC added that a heavy digging machine has been recovered near the site and that the revenue department has been asked to ascertain the ownership of the land to take further action.

Jain said the police has been urged for time-bound investigation of the case and to book the accused behind this illegal mining.
