Fire breaks out at Zirakpur utensil shop

A fire engulfed the second floor of a utensil shop in Jamuna Enclave of Bishapura area in Zirakpur this afternoon. ‘

No loss of life has been reported in the incident but the second floor was completely gutted.

Three fire tenders reached the spot and took two hours to douse the fire. Fire officials, meanwhile, said inflammable items and portable gas cylinders were kept in the store from where the fire erupted.

A thick black smoke had soon engulfed the building, but swift action of fire officials prevented fire from spreading to nearby shops.

Fire officer Mahesh Kumar said there were minor explosions in the building while the firefighting operation was underway.
