With ankle-deep water inside the entire compound, the scene at Government Rajindra Hospital was horrible on Tuesday. Patients were seen wading through the water to get into the hospital. Moreover, the hospital has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Foot-deep water in the parking area was also causing inconvenience to the patients. Even the Medical Superintendent Office was also affected by the rainwater. The X-Ray department, emergency ward, Medical Superintendent Office and dispensary were worst affected.

Rajesh Kumar, who came to visit his friend in the medicine ward, said: “Both the parking areas, and most of the hospital’s compound is inundated with rainwater. I think the authority should have taken some proactive measures.”

Medical Superintendent BS Brar said: “Water from nearby roads, including the state highway, enters in the hospital. The hospital turns into a pond every monsoon season. As soon as I get the funds, bores would be dug so that there is no pool of water.”
