Chandigarh: Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Raj Kumar inaugurated the 11th Chrysanthemum Exhibition at Prof RC Paul Rose Garden. His wife Kusum Singh accompanied him. The exhibition will continue till December 23.  The VC appreciated efforts of the horticulture division and congratulated its staff. He said such green initiatives by the university helped in creating awareness about the environment among the masses. Registrar Karamjeet Singh was the guest of honour. He applauded the efficiency of the staff of the horticulture division and motivated them to work with zeal to achieve better results in future. As many as 128 varieties of chrysanthemum are on display during the exhibition. Twenty-four flower arrangements were on display. 

Workshop on menstrual health 

Chandigarh: A workshop to create awareness about menstrual hygiene was organised for inmates and  and the staff of Girls’ Hostel No.10 at the PU. Dr Gaurav Gaur, NSS programme officer, with his team of NSS volunteers told the participants about the myths, practices, physiological and sociological aspects related to menstrual cycles in women. Stressing on the Swachh Bharat Mission, Dr Archana Chauhan, warden of the hostel told the participants about the use of sanitary pad vending machines and the sanitary pad incinerator installed in the hostel. 

Trainer for e-waste sessions

Chandigarh: Binesh Bhatia, an NSS volunteer from Panjab University, Chandigarh, has been designated as a certified trainer of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for e-waste sessions. He has been organising awareness campaign on e-waste under the supervision of the ministry in the various sectors of Chandigarh and Mohali. 

Student for R-Day parade

Chandigarh: Shyam Rajput, a student at the Department of Evening Studies, will represent the PU at the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi. He has participated in the state-level parade twice, receiving second position both times.  TNS
