Chandigarh: The UT Sports Department will organise trials to select city civil services football team at the Sector 42 Sports Complex on December 12.



Chandigarh: The UT Sports Department will organise trials to select city civil services football team at the Sector 42 Sports Complex on December 12. The trials will begin at 3.30pm, the Sports Department said here on Tuesday. Footballers, who are working in the departments affiliated to the UT Administration, will be eligible to take part in the trials, said the organisers. The selected team will represent the city in the All-India Civil Services Football Tournament, scheduled to be held in Bhopal from December 17-22. TNS

Ravi shines for PMK

Chandigarh: PMK Group of Companies registered a four-run win over Brilliance World School, Panchkula, in the ongoing Akhand Bharat T20 Cricket Championship here on Tuesday. Batting first, PMK boys were all out for 106 runs in 14.3 overs. Ravi made 46, while Kshitij chipped in with 22 runs. Utkarsh Prabhakar was the most impressive bowler for Brilliance World School, claiming 4/17. In reply, the Panchkula school were bowled  out for 102 runs in 16 overs, even as Ram Singh (40) and Utkarsh Prabhakar (37) made decent contributions to the chase. Piyush Mahajan claimed three wickets for PMK Group. TNS

U-12 football meet soon

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh chapter of Khel Bharti, in association with Chandigarh Football Association (CFA), will organise an Open Tricity Baby (U-12) Football League in the last week of this month. Players who are born on or after January 1, 2006, and are residents of the tricity will be eligible to participate in the championship, the organisers said here on Tuesday. The interested teams can send their entries to the organisers before December 16. TNS

Sumit helps Canara Bank win

Chandigarh: Canara Bank defeated Pharma Panthers by five wickets in the ongoing 5th Champions Corporate Cricket League here on Tuesday. Batting first, Pharma Panthers rode on Ankur Sharma’s 54-ball 82 to score 183/5 in 20 overs. Rajat Dogra added 39 runs to the total. Charan Dass bagged three wickets for the bankers, while Rampal Raghav and Sagar Madan claimed a wicket each. In reply, Canara Bank reached home with five wickets in hand. Sumit Dhiman smashed a 52-ball 93, while Gurmeet Singh hit 27 off 15 balls. Ajay Rawat took four wickets for Pharma Panthers. TNS 

Kabaddi trials today

Chandigarh: The UT Sports Department will organise trials to select U-21 men’s kabaddi team at the Sector 42 Sports Complex on December 12. The trials will begin at 10am, the organisers said here on Tuesday. The selected team will represent the city in the upcoming Khelo India Games, scheduled to be held in January 2019. Players born on or after January 1, 1998, and residents of Chandigarh will be eligible to participate in the trials. The interested players have also been advised to carry residence proof and a copy of date of birth certificate to the venue. TNS
