Four FIRs filed in immigration frauds at Sector 17, Chandigarh

Over Rs 34 lakh allegedly siphoned off on promise of work and study visas abroad

In a major crackdown on alleged immigration fraud, the Chandigarh Police have registered four separate FIRs at the Sector 17 police station against city-based visa consultants accused of duping clients on the pretext of arranging overseas work and study visas.

In the first two cases, FIRs have been registered under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC and Section 24 of the Immigration Act 1983 against Anubhav Garg, alias Anshu, and others associated with White Horse Immigration, SCO No. 60-61, Sector 17-D. Complainants Dinesh Malik of Rohtak Road and Partap Singh of Patiala had alleged that they were cheated of Rs 9.10 lakh and Rs 15.90 lakh, respectively, on the assurance of securing work visas abroad.

In the third case registered under Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Section 24 of the Immigration Act, Amandeep Kaur of Panchkula accused Narinder Singh, owner of M/s New Path Overseas, Sector 17-A, of allegedly defrauding her of Rs 3.39 lakh for a promised work visa.

Another FIR named Monika Rehal, Paramjit Singh and others of Rehal Consultants, Sector 17-D, following allegations by a Sector 41 resident that she was cheated of Rs 6 lakh on the pretext of arranging a study visa.

The police said investigations were underway in all the four cases.
