Fraud case for bid to withdraw money through fake cheque

PATIALA:The police registered a case of fraud against a number of persons for the bid to withdraw Rs 99 lakh from the accounts of a trust here.



Patiala, November 18

The police registered a case of fraud against a number of persons for the bid to withdraw Rs 99 lakh from the accounts of a trust here. Two of the accused have been identified as Sukhdev Singh of Sant Hajara Singh Nagar in Sanaur and Amrik Singh of Sanaur. The police have registered the case on the complaint of a Shiv Kumar, manager of Punjab National Bank in Sanaur. 

The manager told the police that the suspects came to his office to withdraw money. He said “We checked the cheque, which was fake. We also contacted the customer to whom cheque belonged, who confirmed that the original check was in his possession.”    

60-yr-old man dies in accidental firing 

A 60-year-old man accidentally shot himself dead. The incident took place when he was in his car outside his residence. 

As per the statement of his son, his pistol had developed some snag and his father was taking the pistol to a gun shop to get it fixed. The victim has been identified as Tajinder Singh Punia, an advocate. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon. Investigating officer ASI Jasvir Singh said, “The family of the victim said it was an accident. Investigation is underway.” — TNS
