Gangster’s aide among two held in drugs case
Two drug peddlers, including an associate of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, have been arrested by the Chandigarh Police for possessing drugs and a country-made pistol.
A team of Operation Cell had laid a checkpoint in Sector 48 on March 7 when a drug peddler, identified as Narinder Kumar, alias Aman (27), was nabbed. Cops recovered 50-gm heroin from him. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against him at the Sector 49 police station.
The police said during interrogation, Narinder revealed that he had purchased the contraband from Sector 38 (West) resident Deepak Thapa, alias Kancha, an associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
The cops then nabbed Deepak with Rs 4.40 lakh, purportedly drug money.
During further course of investigation, a country-made pistol along with a live cartridge was recovered from Sector 33 following Deepak’s disclosure.
The police said Deepak was released from Burail jail in February. He was lodged in the jail in an NDPS case registered last year. In 2018, he along with other gang members was also accused of kidnapping a man from Nayagaon and murdering him. He was also booked in a case of attempt to murder in 2017.
