Chandigarh, February 28

The MCI has approved the renewal of 100 seats at the GMCH, Sector 32, for the upcoming session.

Confirming the development, Dr Atul Sachdev, Director-Principal, GMCH, said one inspection was pending, which the MCI conducted recently and gave its nod to 100 seats in the college.

Dr Sachdev said at the end of this year, the MCI would conduct one last inspection of the final results of the undergraduate courses of the college and if the council was satisfied, the college would be granted 100 seats permanently. The MCI has been inspecting the institute every year. The number of seats, which was 50 until the 2012-13 session, was increased to 100 for the subsequent sessions following the MCI inspections. Last year, the MCI had raised an objection to the increase in the number of seats from 50 to 100, saying that the college had many deficiencies. However, the college managed to remove the deficiencies and retained 100 seats. — TNS
