Chandigarh, February 3

The Municipal Corporation (MC) today introduced a GPS-enabled human efficiency tracking system (ImTrac) to keep a tab on its field staff.

MC Commissioner KK Yadav distributed 50 wrist watches among the employees. Around 4,000 watches will be given to the staff.

Currently, the tracking system has been introduced on a trial basis. The MC will pay Rs 18 lakh monthly rent for a period of three years. “The GPS-enabled wrist watch will help in marking attendance of the field staff, misuse of manual attendance system, maintain transparency and weed out dummy workers,” said Yadav.

Under the new system, attendance will be marked ward-wise at the work location.

Enforcement wing’s 14 SIs to get body cameras

In order to bring transparency, the MChas decided to make its enforcement wing’s Sub-Inspectors (SIs) wear body cameras. There are 14 SIs in the enforcement wing.

“We will be able to keep a check on our staff. In case of an incident during an anti-encroachment drive, the footage from body cameras will help us to track accused,” said the MC official.

Dustbins for car owners

Mayor Raj Bala Malik and Commissioner KK Yadav also launched small dustbins, which will be given to car owners so that they do not throw litter out of the moving vehicles on the roads.
