The court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate today sent a sanitation worker of the MC to 14-day judicial remand in a graft case.

Tej Pal, who worked with the public health wing of the MC, was arrested by the UT Vigilance Department while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Friday.

The department had received a complaint that Tej Pal was demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 for providing a job of a sanitation worker to the complainant’s son.

Vigilance officials said the complainant was asked to pay the first installment of Rs 10,000. “Tej Pal asked the complainant to come to his house in Sector 28 to hand over the money,” a Vigilance official said.

The Vigilance laid a trap and nabbed the suspect while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him at the Vigilance police station in Sector 9 here.
