Dera Bassi: Grandson held for stabbing 85-year-old woman to death

Months after an 85-year-old woman was stabbed to death at her house in Dera Bassi, the police have arrested her grandson for the crime.

The accused, Ashish Saini (27), had been absconding since the incident that took place on October 15 last year.

The police said the elderly woman, Gurbachan Kaur, a resident of Street No. 11 at Gupta Colony in Dera Bassi, was brutally murdered by her grandson, who was addicted to alcohol.

Inspector Sumit Mor, SHO, Dera Bassi, formed teams to trace the accused and he was apprehended on January 14.

A murder case was registered against him at the Dera Bassi police station.
