CHANDIGARH:Gurjant Singh and Amandeep claimed the best-athletes title of boys'' U-14 and girls'' U-14 category, respectively, on the concluding day of the State Athletics Meet, at the Sector 7 Sports Complex, here on Sunday.

Chandigarh, January 20

Gurjant Singh and Amandeep claimed the best-athletes title of boys' U-14 and girls' U-14 category, respectively, on the concluding day of the State Athletics Meet, at the Sector 7 Sports Complex, here on Sunday.  In the boys' U-16 category, Akash claimed the overall champion title, while Simran won the girls' title.      

Rajroshan won the boys' U-18 title and Sonakshi won the girls' U-18 title, while Jashanjot Singh and Gurbir Kaur claimed the boys and girls (U-20) overall title.  Paramjit Singh was adjudged best athlete in the men's category, while Divyanshi won the women's tile.  

Meanwhile, in the women's 1500m event, Jyoti claimed the gold medal after completing the run 6 minutes, 53:32 seconds (6.53:32s). Vanisha claimed the second position by clocking 7.23:91s, while Gagandeep Kaur claimed the third position in 7.37:41s. In the 100m dash, Divyanshi claimed the top podium spot in 12.97s. Rajbeer Singh (13.6s) and Shivani (15.47s) claimed second and third position. 

Maninderjit Kaur claimed hammer throw gold with a throw of 41.35m. Sachleen (16.41m) and Shashi (15.64m) claimed the second and third position. In triple jump event, Harjot Kaur (8.49m), Bhawna (7.64m) and Kuldeep Kaur (7.43m) won the top positions. Divyansh(25.69s) claimed the 200m gold medal, followed by Simrandeep Kaur (26.40s) and Harjot Kaur (33.35s). 

In the 600m event of the girls' U-14 category, Amandeep Kaur (2.02:44s), Prabhjot Kaur (2.03:66s) and Nitya (2.12:00s) claimed the top three positions while in the 100m sprint, Simran Kaur (12.66s), Harleen kaur (13.88s) and Jualena Pannu (14.28s) were the top three winners. Simran won her second gold medal in the 200m event by clocking 26.54s, followed by Muskan (29.12) at second spot and Tanvir Kaur (30.11s) at third position.     

In the girls' U-20 triple jump final, Gurveer Kaur (10.45m), Shakshi (8.34m) and Chanda (7.47m) were the top three finishers.

Mahendra wins 600m gold 

In the boys' U-14 category, Mahendra Kumar clocked 1.31:00s to claim the 400m gold medal. Naman Sharma (1.38:00s) and Tejas veer (1.42:00s) claimed the silver and bronze medal. In the 100m event, Akash Singh (11.40s), hemkesh (11.87s) and Vishal Singh (12.97s) claimed medals. 

Parkash Yadav claimed the gold medal in the men's 10,000m event by clocking 36.19:00s. Vikas (39.28:21s) claimed the second position and Mohit (39.51:02s) finished third. Jagroop (12.70m) won the triple jump gold, while Jaswinder (11.90m) and Abhimanyu (10.82m) claimed the second and third position.  In the 1500m final, Vishal (4.33:62s), Harpreet (4.38:78s) and Mohit (5.05:47s) claimed top three medals. 

Lakhwinder Singh won the boys' U-18 triple jump gold with clearing 12.95m. Harjot Singh (12.48m) finished second and Chirag (10.97m) finished third.  — TNS
