Haryana Governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh on Monday inspected the Government Model Sanskriti Primary School in Sector 4, where he personally reviewed students’ work and interacted with children to understand their behaviour and teachers’ methods. Appreciating the cleanliness and upkeep of the school premises, the Governor announced a grant of Rs 2 lakh from his discretionary fund for beautification and improvement works.

During the visit, the Governor inspected the mid-day meal, drinking water arrangements and toilets for both boys and girls. He also examined the roof to check water drainage and dampness. He directed the District Education Officer to ensure proper arrangements for the mid-day meal, drinking water, toilets and roof repairs to safeguard students’ health. He specified that Rs 1 lakh would be spent on classroom beautification, Rs 50,000 on improving toilets and Rs 50,000 on drinking water and other facilities. Parents were urged to monitor fund utilisation and provide feedback directly to Raj Bhavan if any shortcomings were noticed.

The Governor and his wife, Mitra Ghosh, interacted with students, asked them questions and distributed chocolates. They also celebrated the birthdays of children born in December by cutting a cake on the school premises.

Later, Prof Ghosh visited the Government Model Sanskriti Primary School in Ramgarh, where he inspected classrooms, toilets, drinking water facilities and the mid-day meal. He announced another grant of Rs 2 lakh from his discretionary fund for cleanliness and beautification. He reviewed students’ handwriting and notebooks and interacted with them about their studies. Directions were issued to the Deputy Commissioner and District Education Officer to improve basic amenities, stressing that protecting children’s health should be the highest priority.

The Governor also instructed the Municipal Commissioner to construct a boundary wall around a pond outside the school to ensure students’ safety. Interacting with parents, he asked them to oversee the development works and share feedback.

Addressing those present, Prof Ghosh said children are the future of any nation and state, and providing them quality education is both the government’s responsibility and a moral duty. He added that future doctors, engineers, scientists and leaders will emerge from these schools, which play a vital role in shaping character and discipline. Outstanding students were honoured with mementoes.

Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma, SDM Chandrakant Kataria, District Education Officer Sandhya Malik, DEEO Suman Kumari, school principals, teachers and parents were present.
