High drama was witnessed after equipment installed at an open air gym was broken soon after the inauguration by city MP Kirron Kher at a park in Sector 22 here.
Area councillor Ravi Kant Sharma said the equipment was broken deliberately and it would be replaced soon. Former city Mayor Pradeep Chhabra alleged that sub-standard material was used in the equipment.
Local residents complained to the former Mayor and Chandigarh Congress president Pradeep Chhabra, who reached the spot, regarding this issue.
Chhabra said this was a serious matter and Vigilance inquiry should be conducted as to how the equipment broke within an hour of the inauguration.
MC officials took away the broken equipment and assured that it would be replaced soon. City MP Kirron Kher inaugurated the open air gym in the presence of area councillor Ravi Kant here today.
