Chandigarh, February 15

The police have arrested a 20-year-old youth involved in cases of theft and snatching in the city.

On a secret information, the police laid a naka near the Sports Complex in Sector 50 today. The suspect, Bhim (20) of Sector 38 (West), who was on a motorcycle, was stopped for checking.

On enquiry, cops found that the bike the youth was riding had been used in a snatching incident that took place near India Enclave, a society in Sector 51, on February 13.

The suspect was arrested after a case was registered against him under Section 379-A of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector 49 police station.

During the course of investigation, a snatched purse and a mobile phone were recovered from the suspect. On verification, the police found that the bike the suspect was riding at the time of his arrest was stolen by him from Sector 38.

During investigation, the police found that Bhim was a habitual snatcher and had been earlier arrested 13 times.
