Half Marathon on January 27

Chandigarh:  Punjab Half Marathon will be held here on January 27. The 21-km run will be flagged off from Chandigarh Club, Sector 1. Athletes can also participate in 10km and 5km run, the orgnaisers said here on Monday. TNS

Abhishek helps Ultimate XI win 

Chandigarh:  Ultimate Fitness XI registered a four-wicket win over HDFC XI in a 5th Champions Corporate Cricket League match here on Monday. Electing to bat, the bankers managed a modest 112/6 in 20 overs. Pankaj (39) and Ravinder (20) made useful contributions to the total. Rakesh Yadav took two wickets, while Sidhant accounted for one wicket. In reply, Ultimate Fitness rode on Abhishek Gagneja’s 54-run knock to reach home in 19.3 overs. 35 kids for state taekwondo meet

Chandigarh:  Taekwondo Association of Mohali has selected 35 athletes for the Punjab State Taekwondo Championship, scheduled to be held in Hoshiarpur from January 23-24. A total of 110 players had participated in the recently-concluded district taekwondo meet at the Sector 78 Sports Complex here. TNS

Sharma elected PAA president

Chandigarh:  Former IRS officer and member of Punjab State Food commission AK Sharma has been elected as president of Punjab Athletics Association (PAA), while KPS Brar will be the new secretary. The decision was made during a general body meeting of the association on January 21. TNS
