CHANDIGARH: Harnoor Sidhu drubbed Milli Pandit 6-0 6-2 to enter the girls’ U-16 semifinals in the STA-AITA Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Tournament at the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, here on Tuesday.

Harnoor Sidhu drubbed Milli Pandit 6-0 6-2 to enter the girls’ U-16 semifinals in the STA-AITA Talent Series (TS-7) Tennis Tournament at the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, here on Tuesday.    

Simran Pritam registered a 6-2 6-4 win over Sanchit Dabas, while Catherine Bhangu packed off Anusha Verma 6-4 6-0. Pawandeep Kaur came from behind to beat Omisha Nischal. 

Pawandeep lost the opening set 2-6, but came back strongly to win the next two sets 6-2 6-0 to stay in contention for a place in the final.

Sarthak in quarters 

In the boys’ U-16 category, Sarthak Gandhi dismissed Dakshit Arora 6-0 6-1 to book a place in quarterfinals. Lakshya Gupta downed Aryan Aggarwal 6-2 6-2, while Avish Verma ousted Jayesh Mehra 6-1 6-1. 

Aditya Chauhan overcame Ekamjeet Singh 6-1 7-6(5) and Harmanjot Singh dispatched Anshul Chawla 6-1 6-1 in the pre-quarterfinals. Sukhpreet Jhojhe tamed  Achyut Bist 6-0 6-1 to move into last eight.  

Ekamjeet advances 

In the boys’ U-14 competition, Ekamjeet Singh had an easy pre-quarterfinal outing as he beat Yash Aggarwal 6-2 6-2. 

Atul Ajay packed off Yash Jindal 6-2 7-5, while Gurpuneet Singh overcame Arshveer Sharma 6-4 2-6 6-2. Haramrit Singh survived a three-setter marathon against Shivam Wadhawan. Haramrit won 6-4 1-6 6-4.

Aryan Aggarwal downed Pratham Gopal Krishan 6-2 7-5. Harwin Munjal beat  Anirudh Sangra 7-6(4) 6-3, while Shraey Vir tamed Jivaj Chawla 6-1 6-3.

Bhumi Kakkar, meanwhile, ousted Ananya Dogra 6-2 6-2 in the girls’ U-14 quarterfinals. Sanchit Dabas beat Rubani Sidhu 6-3 7-6(3).
