Haryana’s Jasmine reaches tennis final

Haryana’s Jasmine Kaur reached the girls’ U-16 final by defeating Maharashtra’s Mohak Kulkarni in straight sets 6-2 6-4, during the Roots AITA Challenge Series National Ranking Tournament. Second seed Japji Kaur defeated Khyati Bhatt of Gujarat 6-4 6-4 in the other semifinal.

In a girls’ U-18 semifinal, second seed Chandigarh’s Ira Chadha faced some resistance before logging a win over Rakhsana Sudarshan of Tamil Nadu. The Chandigarh girl posted 6-4 3-6 6-3 win. In the second semifinal, third seed Chandigarh’s Mannat Awasthi registered victory over Khyati Bhatt 6-3 6-7(4) 6-1.

Haryana’s Harsh Marwaha returned from a set down to make it to the boys’ U-18 final. In the semis, he defeated Punjab’s Gurshaan Singh 4-6 6-3 7-6(4). Ayaan Chandel defeated Amrat Chaudhary 6-1 6-4 in the second match.

In the boys’ U-16 semis, seventh seed Punjab’s Yug Raj Mahi stunned top seed Chandigarh’s Charchit Boora. Mahi lost the opener 4-6, but bounced back with a 6-3 6-4 win to reach the final. Marwaha won the second semi by defeating Ayaan Chandel 6-1 6-3.
