Himachal colts beat Andhra Pradesh 5-1

CHANDIGARH:Himachal boys continued their impressive show in the Hockey India Sub-Junior Men National Championship 2019 (B Division) as they registered a 5-1 win over Andhra Hockey Association in a Pool D match on the 11th day of the competition in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh on Thursday.

Himachal boys continued their impressive show in the Hockey India Sub-Junior Men National Championship 2019 (B Division) as they registered a 5-1 win over Andhra Hockey Association in a Pool D match on the 11th day of the competition in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh on Thursday.      

Sagar Nanda (19th, 21st) scored a brace, while Deepak (29th), Deepu (36th) and Gautam Paswan (47th) added a goal each to the Hockey Him tally. Suresh B (60th) scored the consolation goal for Andhra.

In another Pool D match, Hockey Uttarakhand defeated Telangana Hockey 6-2 in Pool D. Deepak Fartyal (12th, 16th), Lalit Negi (9th), Rishu Kumar (14th), captain Shahanawaz Hasan (18th) and Sarul Panwar (56th) scored for Uttarakhand while Ram Kumar Vetti (35th) and Shekhar Lavudya (49th) sounded the wooden plank for Telangana.

Meanwhile, Dhanush Kaveriappa MA scored four times as Hockey Coorg steamrolled Hockey Mizoram 13-1.

Dhanush scored in the 14th, 17th, 19th and 38th minutes of the game. Aryan Uthappa MT (21st, 59th) and Kiran Kumar SG (25th, 60th) struck a brace each, while Diwan Subbaiah CU (5th), Nishik Nachappa KR (11th), Bipin BR (43th), Ujwal Appachu PS (45th) and Nanjunda MC (53rd) added a goal each to the Coorg tally. Malsawmkima (36th) scored the solitary goal for Hockey Mizoram.

In Pool B, Mumbai School Sports Association blanked Hockey Puducherry 5-0. Seraj Ahmad (6th, 14th), Ranjan Gond (34th), Rahul Yadav (40th) and Dnyanesh Pawar (51st) scored for the Mumbai outfit. — TNS
