Hindi play highlights Kabir’s philosophy

CHANDIGARH: The wisdom, philosophy and mysticism of visionary literary saint Kabir found its reflection in Hindi play ‘Kabira Khada Bazar Mein’, staged by Mask Theatre in the ‘Natyotsav’, organised by NZCC, Patiala, at Tagore Theatre here today.

The wisdom, philosophy and mysticism of visionary literary saint Kabir found its reflection in Hindi play ‘Kabira Khada Bazar Mein’, staged by Mask Theatre in the ‘Natyotsav’, organised by NZCC, Patiala, at Tagore Theatre here today.

Based on a classic by Bhishma Sahni, young theatre director Ravinder Kumar brought alive brief account of the life of Kabir bt dwelling more on his philosophy, moral ethics and poetic aspects of the myriad minded saint.

The well-rehearsed play with potent philosophical content depicted Kabir with God intoxicated soul in the thick of controversies and struggles right from his birth.

Solo performance during play ‘Toba Tek Singh’

The Chandigarh School of Drama presented a solo performance of Sadat Hasan Manto’s play ‘Toba Tek Singh’ by lone young actor Karandeep Singh at the mini auditorium here today. Karandeep took the centre stage to portray multiple characters associated with various incidents during and post Partition of 1947.

Karandeep described the psyche of the communal minded contemptuous miscreants, the rich people managing safe return of kin, the concern of Anglo Indians, the poor and inmates of metal asylum. He was at his best with thrilling stage movements while portraying the character of a social activist Bishan Singh in search of his village Toba Tek Singh.
