Hit by speeding vehicle, truck driver dies

A truck driver was killed while his cleaner sustained serious injuries after they were hit by an unidentified speeding vehicle on the GT Road near Patarsi Khurd village here. They were changing a tyre of the truck at the time of the accident.

The deceased has been identified as Nishan Singh, a resident of Gobindwal village in Tarn Taran district. The injured cleaner, identified as Poona, is undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Patiala.

The victims were travelling from Rajpura to Mandi Gobindgarh when one of its tyres burst. They parked the truck on the roadside and began replacing the damaged tyre. While they were carrying out the repair work, an unidentified vehicle approaching from behind hit them.
