CHANDIGARH:The UT police Home Guards volunteer, who died after the Bullet motorcycle he was riding along with his brother-in-law was hit by rolling boulders in Kinnaur district, had got his leave extended for the motorbike expedition.

The UT police Home Guards volunteer, who died after the Bullet motorcycle he was riding along with his brother-in-law was hit by rolling boulders in Kinnaur district, had got his leave extended for the motorbike expedition. 

Sources said victim Sunil Kumar, a volunteer posted at the Mani Majra police station, was excited about his trip to Kinnaur district. 

“Kumar was on leave till June 17. However, he got his leave extended till June 30 to visit Kinnaur district,” said a police official. Sunil’s brother Rajesh Kumar first got the information about the accident after which he informed the Mani Majra police about the tragic incident. Police sources said Sunil Kumar, a native of Himachal Pradesh, was residing at Mani Majra in Chandigarh along with his wife and three children. 

His father Uttam Chand ,who is now settled in HP, retired as an ASI from the Chandigarh Police. 

Sunil’s colleagues said he was a hardworking person. “We are worried about Sunil’s family as he is survived by three small children,” they said. The victim’s family left for Kinnaur after getting the tragic news.
