The local boys and girls baseball teams claimed the overall trophy of the 65th National School (U-19) Games, here.  

In a keenly contested boys’ U-19 final, Chandigarh defeated Madhya Pradesh 2-1. Chhattisgarh claimed the third position by defeating Delhi 1-0. Earlier, in the semifinals, the hosts posted a 1-0 win over New Delhi, while Madhya Pradesh thrashed Chhattisgarh 11-1. In the girls’ U-19 final, city team defeated Delhi 3-1 to claim the title. Maharashtra claimed the third position by defeating Chhattisgarh 2-1. The city girls had reached in the final by defeating Maharashtra 9-0, while Delhi posted a 3-1 win over Chhattisgarh.

City boys win fencing c’ship 

The boys’ fencing team also claimed the overall trophy of the 6th National School Games. The city team won the championship by scoring 25 points. Maharatsra claimed the second position with a score of 22 points and Punjab claimed third position by scoring 21 points. 

In the boys’ team event, Punjab 10 pints) won foil event, while Chandigarh (6 points) claimed the second position and Gujarat (2 points) finished third. Maharashtra (2 points) finished fourth in the tally. Chandigarh (10 points) boys won the epee event, followed by Kerala (6 points) at second position, Tamil Nadu (2 points) at third and Maharashtra (2 pianist) at fourth. Maharashtra (10 points) claimed first position in sabre event, while Chandigarh (6 points) finished second. CBSE and Kerala claimed two points each to claim third and fourth position. In the boys’ individual category, Satnam Singh (5 points) claimed the top position and Jai Khandelwal (3 points) finished second. Lokraj (1 point) and Ajay Singh (1point) claimed the joint third position. Shankar Pandey (5 points) won the epee event and Ajay (3 points) finished second. Gohli and Inderpratap finished third by scoring one point each. 

Abhay (5 points), Gurlal (3 points), Saurabh (1point) and Aman (1 point) claimed the first three positions, respectively.  Meanwhile, in the girls’ category, Kerala claimed the top position in the overall category by scoring 43 points. Chandigarh finished second with 26 points and Punjab claimed the third position with a score of 9 points. Kerala claimed foil gold medal by scoring 10 points, while Chandigarh finished second with six points. Punjab and Maharashtra claimed joint third position by scoring two points each. 

Chandigarh team won the epee gold with a score of 10 points and Kerala claimed second position with a score of six points. Punjab and Gujarat scored two points each to claim joint third position. 

Kerala won gold in the sabre event with a score of 10 points, while Chandigarh claimed the second position by scoring six points. 

Punjab and Tamil Nadu claimed joint third position with a score of two points each. In the foil individual event, Joy Sahita (5 points), VP Kangalakshmi (3 points), Shubhpreet (1 point) and R Poonguzhali (1 point) claimed the top three positions, respectively. Khushi won the epee gold by scoring 5 points and Kashvi claimed the silver medal by scoring three points. 

Both Ance Mary and Ananya scored one-point each to claim the joint third position. Vedika Kaushik (5 points), Vedika Khushi (3 points), Rishita (1 point) and Samreen (1 point) claimed top three positions in the sabre event.
