AMBALA: A hotel owner sustained a bullet injury after an unidentified person opened fire at him in Ambala City late on Friday night. The victim has been identified as Rajesh Kumar (58), a resident of Ambala City.

A hotel owner sustained a bullet injury after an unidentified person opened fire at him in Ambala City late on Friday night.

The victim has been identified as Rajesh Kumar (58), a resident of Ambala City.

In his complaint to the police, Rajesh Kumar stated that he owned a hotel on the railway road. Around 10:30 pm on Friday, he was going home in his car when two youths, who were on a motorcycle, approached him from the left side of the car. As he rolled down the windowpane of the car, the youth riding pillion opened fire at him. The bullet grazed Rajesh’s head. After opening fire, the suspects fled towards Polytechnic Chowk. 

Passersby rushed Rajesh to the Civil Hospital in Ambala City from where he was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh. He is undergoing treatment.

Dr GR Jain, a forensic expert, said a deformed bullet had been recovered from the car and it had been sent for examination.

SP Abhishek Jorwal said, “The victim has some property disputes with his tenants and some cases are also pending in the High Court. However, he has not raised suspicion against anyone yet. We will talk to him once he gets discharged and get further information. The bullet had deviated after touching his skull.”

A case has been registered under Sections 307 and 34 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act at the Ambala City police station.
