Ice skater Ivan bags two gold medals at South East Asia meet
The eight-year-old skater emerged victorious in the 500m ice speed skating and the 333m of the boys’ sub junior event
A Class II student from St John’s High School, Sector 26, Ivaan Arora, bagged two gold medals at the South East Asian (SEA) Trophy, Manila Series 2026, being held in Philippines, which concluded today.
The eight-year-old skater emerged victorious in the 500m ice speed skating and the 333m of the boys’ sub junior event. He further clocked 59:64s to win the gold in the 500m trace, and bagged the top position in the 300m event with a timing of 39.137s.
The SEA Trophy is an international ice skating championship, conducted under the regulations of
the International Skating Union (ISU), which draws participation by skaters from across the South East Asian region.
The youngster has in the past won two gold medals in the junior F category (333m and 222m) event at the Asian Open Short Track Speed Skating Trophy, held in Dehradun. The speed skating competition was organised by the Ice Skating Association of India (ISAI).
Arora started his competitive sports journey as a roller-skater, where he achieved considerab;e success by winning multiple medals at events including, the CBSE and RSFI National Championships.
Last year, he shifted to ice skating and made his mark almost immediately by securing multiple medals at the national level.
