Illegal constructions removed in Nayagaon

Acting on the directions of the administration, an anti-encroachment drive was carried out against unauthorised constructions in the Nayagaon area, with special focus on the Kansal catchment area of Sukhna Lake, in strict compliance with the orders of the High Court.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of the Nodal Officer with active participation from the AME team, building inspector, general inspector and the Executive Officer (EO). Adequate police force was deployed to maintain law and order and ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the operation. The SHO, Nayagaon, along with the police team, was present on site to provide necessary security and support to the anti-encroachment team.

The operation targeted illegal and unauthorised structures raised in violation of the High Court’s directions in and around Patiala ki Rao, including Shivalik Vihar. These areas fall within the restricted and ecologically sensitive Kansal catchment and floodplain zones, which are vital for maintaining natural drainage and the ecological balance of the Sukhna Lake.

Despite repeated notices, prior warnings and ample opportunity for voluntary compliance, several constructions were found to be in gross violation of the court orders, environmental norms and land-use regulations. Such encroachments obstruct natural rainwater flow, increase flood risks, and cause serious environmental degradation.

The anti-encroachment drive was conducted in a systematic, lawful and peaceful manner.

The administration reiterated that no unauthorised construction or encroachment would be permitted in the Kansal catchment area, along Patiala ki Rao, or in any other protected zones. Any future violations of the High Court’s orders would invite strict legal action, including demolition and penal proceedings, without further notice.

Residents and property owners have once again been advised to strictly adhere to approved building plans, land-use regulations and court directives.
