Jan Nayak Janata Party (JJP) district president OP Sihag has alleged that BJP leaders and workers have been allowed to put up illegal hoardings across Panchkula for months, while similar boards put up by other political parties are removed immediately.

Sihag claimed that in almost every sector and market of the city, illegal hoardings featuring BJP leaders can be seen, causing public annoyance.

With the Municipal Corporation elections approaching, he said several BJP leaders had covered the city with unauthorised hoardings to project themselves as prominent public figures.

Accusing the Municipal Corporation officials of bias, Sihag said illegal hoardings of the BJP leaders go unnoticed, whereas those put up by opposition parties were promptly declared illegal and removed.

He also referred to a recently organised fair held in the name of “Swadeshi”, during which hundreds of hoardings were allegedly installed across the city without the MC approval and without paying advertisement fee running into lakhs of rupees.

The JJP leader alleged that civic officials appear to have forgotten their duty and are bowing to the ruling party. He urged the Municipal Commissioner to ensure equal treatment and take immediate action to remove all illegal hoardings, including those put up by BJP leaders, and to recover the due advertisement charges.
