Illuminate dark spots sighted by UT police: Mayor

Mayor Davesh Moudgil has asked officials of the Municipal Corporation to include the dark spots identified by the Chandigarh Police in the Rs 26-crore project of illumination of 9,300 dark spots in the city.

Sources said in a letter to the MC Commissioner, the Mayor requested to start the process for installation of street lights in the areas identified by the police. He said the police had in their report stated that criminals were taking advantage of darkness.

SSP Nilambari Jagdale had recently sent a report on dark spots to the Mayor. Sources said during a survey conducted recently, the police had identified more than 100 dark spots in the city.
