Chandigarh, January 19

Fifteen more birds were found dead in different areas of the city today.

Debendra Dalai, Chief Conservator of Forests, UT, said 13 crows, a pigeon and an unknown bird were found dead in different areas of the city. All 21 samples of dead birds sent to the Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, Jalandhar, so far had tested negative for avian influenza, he added.

Nine birds were found dead in the city yesterday. Meanwhile, the Veterinary Department, UT, collected 165 samples of migratory birds from Sukhna Lake and Dhanas Lake and poultry samples from the Meat Market, Sector 21, Sarangpur and other places in the city in the past two days. — TNS
