Mohali, September 22

Incessant rain caused waterlogging in several areas of the town, including Phase 11, Industrial Area and certain parts of the Mohali-Kharar Highway, here today.

Residents of Phase 11 here were again up in arms over accumulation of water in their area.

“Continuous rain for hours left our area under nearly one-foot water at several places. Thank god, heavy spell of rain did not last long otherwise the rainwater could have entered the houses in the area,” said Ranjit Singh, a local resident.

He, along with other residents, demanded that the authorities should do something to redress the problem because they face huge inconvenience whenever it rains.

Roads in several parts of the Industrial Area had also turned into water streams due to waterlogging.

“Those who were on foot, faced a lot of inconvenience to reach their work places due to waterlogging and slush all around,” said Rajesh, a private employee at the local Industrial Area.

Several roads in Phase 7 and 8 of the Industrial Area were seen submerged under more than one-foot water.

Stretch on the Mohali-Kharar Highway near VR Punjab Mall also witnessed waterlogging, which also led to traffic jam on the spot.
