Inter-University Youth Fest begins at PU today

CHANDIGARH: PU, in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, is organising its 34th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival, Yuvostav-2018.

PU, in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, is organising its 34th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival, Yuvostav-2018. Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal will inaugurate the festival on Thursday.

Over 1,000 students from 34 universities of the northern region are participating in the festival. All 27events of literary, music, theatre, dance and fine arts will be conducted during the five-day festival, Nirmal Jaura, organising secretary of the festival, said.

Registrar Prof Karamjeet Singh said the event started with ‘kirtan’ and ‘ardaas’. He said a cultural procession would be organised before the inaugural function in which universities would showcase culture of their respective states.

A meeting of the directors of the participating universities, AIU official Sampson David and AIU observer SK Sharma was held on Wednesday to discuss various issues regarding the festival. — TNS
