Karnal man held with heroin

Mohali: The police arrested a man with 110 gm of heroin at Balongi on May 6. The suspect has been identified as Lovepreet Singh, a resident of Makhumajra in Karnal. A case has been registered against the suspect under the NDPS Act at the Balongi police station. He was remanded in three-day police custody. The police said the suspect used to buy the contraband from Moga and sell it to his customers in Kharar, Balongi and Mohali. TNS

Rajasthan native held with drug

Chandigarh: A 34-year-old man has been arrested by the local police with heroin. According to the police, Dilip Kumar, a native of Rajasthan, was nabbed from Sector 32 with 65 gm of heroin. A case has been registered against him at the Sector 34 police station. TNS

2 arrested for violating norms

Panchkula: The police on Saturday arrested owners of two dhabas for serving food to customers in violation of the orders of the district administration. According to information, a team of the Sector 10 police chowki, led by in-charge Sub-Inspector Narinder Kumar, visited two dhabas in Sector 11 and Sector 12. The team found these dhabas serving food to customers on their premises. The accused have been booked under Sections 188, 269 and 270 of the IPC and under the Disaster Management Act - 2005. TNS

100 vaccinated at camp in Zirakpur

Zirakpur: A Covid vaccination camp was organised at Trishla City, a housing society, in Zirakpur on Friday. Newly elected Zirakpur MC chief Udayvir Dhillon inaugurated the camp. He requested people to follow social distancing, wear face mask and wash hands regularly. While requesting people to get vaccinated against Covid, he assured them of any kind of help from the government. Harish Gupta, MD of Trishla City, launched the camp by taking the jab. An 85-year-old woman, Trishla Devi, also received the vaccine. She thanked the government for organising the camp. A total of 100 beneficiaries were vaccinated against Covid on the occasion. TNS
