Kataria pays tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria paid tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur on his martyrdom day, urging people to follow the teachings and legacy of the great Guru, revered as “Hind di Chadar” for his unparalleled sacrifice.
He emphasised that the Guru’s supreme sacrifice was made to protect the freedom to worship and uphold the principles of justice, dignity and secularism. His legacy serves as an enduring source of inspiration for courage, compassion and righteousness in the face of oppression.
Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, was born in 1621 and dedicated his life to the service of humanity. His ‘bani’ enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib promotes spiritual enlightenment, universal brotherhood and detachment from materialism.
The Governor highlighted that the Guru’s martyrdom in 1675 to safeguard the rights of Kashmiri Pandits and others symbolises his unwavering stand for truth and justice.
